Treatment Spotlight: Anti CGRP Treatments for Migraine

Professor Lars Edvinsson is the leading expert in the field of cerebral circulation and migraine. He has received global recognition for his work on vascular innervation and receptor regulation, and his extensive research has been a major contributor to what is known about cerebral vasculature in health and disease. He has written the major textbook in this field, Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism. His groundbreaking work on the sensory system has resulted in new medicine being introduced, including small molecular CGRP-blockers for acute attacks and antibodies towards CGRP or CGRP-receptors as prophylaxis for chronic migraine.

Lars Edvinsson is a physician at the Department of Emergency and Internal Medicine, Skåne University Hospital and professor of Internal medicine at Lund University. He is chairman of the Swedish Migraine Society and the current president of the International Headache Society. In 2007 Lars Edvinsson was the founder, and is now the director, of the Glostrup Research Park, Copenhagen, and in 2008 was called to be professor at the Copenhagen University in “Receptor Regulation in Cerebrovascular and Cardiovascular Diseases.” In 2012 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Headache Society and was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Szeged in Hungary. He has co-authored over 950 scientific publications and has served since 1985 as the head of the Division of Experimental Vascular Research, Lund University, Sweden, at the Biomedical Center in Lund.
